Before, during, or after a working cycle, if your AEG washing machine makes an error, that’s a bummer. The washing machine normally displays on the monitor an error notification or a code.
It’s possible to correct a lot of these AEG errors. You will read what they mean and how you can fix them in this post. For instance, you can reset your washing machine.
AEG Washing Machine Error Codes
Next, pay attention to some errors that often occur in AEG washing machines, and how to fix them yourself before you call a technician
1#. AEG Washing Machine Error Codes E20, E21 or C2

Error Indication Message
- E20, E21 OR C2
- EMITS 2 BEEPS / 2 FLASHES
ISSUE
- The washing machine shows an E20, E21 or C2 error message, generating 2 beeps or 2 flashes.
- The washing Machine Does not drain (Discard water)
- The drum isn’t spinning,
- The system makes creaking noises because the drain pump is blocked.
How To fix
#1. Ensure that the drain hose is in the right position
The drain hose should stretch into the drain no further than 10 cm downwards. Refer to the installation instructions given with your appliance in your user manual or a separate installation leaflet. User Manual Download.
#2. Ensure that the drain height is right.
The drain height shall not exceed 100 cm and not exceed 60 cm above the base of the unit, or as shown in the user manual. Refer to the installation instructions given with your appliance in your user manual or a separate installation leaflet.
#3. Clean your pump and filter.
Clean the pump and fluff filters, including the pump blade (if the pump blade is visible, rotate it with a pencil and refit the filter). Then start a hot wash without adding any soap powder to clean the drainage system.
Please refer to the user manual provided with your appliance for a detailed procedure.
#4. Please check for a blocked drain.
Check the hose connected to the sink trap and check that the sink is draining normally to remove the blockage. Check that the drains are well drained.
Try to wash the drain hose in a bowl or a sink. If the washing machine is working correctly after the test wash, it may indicate that the siphon/outlet is closed-
#5. Check The Hoses Connected
If the drain hose has been extended as shown in the installation diagram above, check where the hoses are connected (due to the reduced flow diameter, it is more likely to be blocked)
#.6 Check for possible kink or twist on the drain hose.
Kink or twist of the drain hose may prevent the water from flowing through the hose. You can check it out behind the machine.
#7. Use less of the soap powder.
When a lot of soap powder is used or a lot of foam is produced, the foam level system can be blocked. You can fix this by switching off the machine and shaking the drum back and forth several times. Clean the drain pump/filter and then use a hot wash without any soap powder.
#8. Turn the power off to the washing machine.
The problem can be solved by switching off the power to the washing machine for about 1-2 hours and then starting the laundry cycle again. If the pump has been blocked, the pump is switched off by a bimetal fuse. When the pump has cooled down, it’s supposed to work normally.
#9. Please contact the Authorized Service Center.
If the above suggestions have not resolved the problem, we recommend that you request a visit from the service engineer. Make a note of the reported error code and quote it when you ask the engineer to do so. This will not solve your problem, but it will help our engineer to identify the cause of the problem.
#2. AEG Washing Machine Error Codes CODE EF0, EFO, EF3

Error Indication Message
- Error display FR0, EFO or EF3
- EMITS 15 BEEPS / 15 FLASHES
ISSUE
- Washing machine displays warning code EF0, EFO, EF3 or emits 15 beeps / 15 flashes
- Water leak detected (EF3) , automatic safety mode activated
How To Fix
EF0 or EF3 warning messages on the display can have several causes.
If you identify one of the below points as the cause of the warning, the message disappears automatically at the end of the program or when the next program is restarted
#.1 Using too much detergent can cause excessive foaming.
Switch off the appliance and let it stand for a few hours until the foam subsides and then try the appliance again.
#.2 Clean the drawer of the dispenser
If the dispenser drawer or the sprinkler plate over the drawer is very dirty or covered in limescale, the water can flow out and cause a problem. Clean the drawer of the dispenser according to the user manual and try the appliance again.
#3. Check for the laundry in the machine.
Clothing between the door seal and glass will leak the door and let water go down and down to the bottom of the tray. Switch off the water and the power supply and then place a towel on the ground behind the washing machine.
Tilt the appliance back a little, so there’s about 10–15 cm between the floor and the kickboard on the front.
Hold the appliance in position for about 30–40 seconds to allow the water in the bottom tray to flow out to the towel.
Lower the appliance to the floor and reconnect.
Check for water supply and drainage.
Check that the filters in the inlet hose and the water valve are clean (where the inlet hose is screwed onto the appliance and at the water tap).
Start the wash cycle and see if the problem has been resolved.
If the error occurs again, a service technician should inspect the machine.
#4. Check for leaks at the bottom of the fluff filter.
Remove and clean the filter according to the user manual. Check that the filter is damaged. If the filter is intact, fix it and tighten it tightly by hand.
#5. Check the water supply hose for a possible leak (EF3 – Aqua-Control system warning)
Any leak in the hose can cause the water to flow out into the machine next to the back panel, so check the connection of the water supply hose to the tap and machine.
If this is the cause, the machine should be tipped as shown under “Check for laundry caught in the machine” so that the machine can start again.
#6. Check the door seal.

The error may be caused by the machine’s door seal leaking. Verify it by opening the door and examining the door seal.
The seal should not be damaged, cracked or have holes. If the door seal is faulty, it must be replaced by a service engineer. Do not use the machine until it has been repaired.
Turn off the water supply to the machine.
#7. Contact an Authorized Service Center.
If the above advice does not resolve the problem, we recommend requesting a visit by a service engineer.

Is there any error message from your washing machine? If so, see the device’s manual. Still suffering from an insufficiency? Not all problems can, sadly, be solved separately. You may need a technician.
